Attractions in Bikaner
Bikaner offers several tourist attractions including forts, palaces, museums & temples.
Junagarh Fort : This fort was built in 15th century by Raja Rai Singh. There are several palaces within the fort and the most beautiful palaces are Chandra Mahal, Phool Mahal & Karan Mahal. The palaces are built in red sandstone, marbel with mirror works, carvings & paintings. There is a museum inside the fort which has valuable antique objects.
The Lalgarh Palace : This extraordinary monument was designed by a Britisher for Maharaja Ganga Singh. This shows a mixture of Oriental & European style architecture. Here the library inside the palace has a large collection of sanskrit manuscripts. Also one can see glass ornaments, oil paintings & lamps inside the palace.
Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum : This museum has a large collection of pottery, paintings, carpets, coins & armoury. It also has objects of local art & crafts which make this an interesting place to visit.
Camel festivals : The festival is held in January every year where one can enjoy camel races, camel rides, camel dances along with local folk performances.
Bhandeshwar & Sandeshwar Temples : These temples are built by two brothers & the temples carry their names. The mirror work & the gold leaf paintings are the major attractions of the temple. These are dedicated to Jain teerthankar, Parsvanathji.
